Student Leader Nomination

Many of you may know that I have been nominated as head girl and I thought it was luck , but no it was thanks to you guys. Way back in term one, I’ve told a leader that I always wanted to be nominated as head girl and it is a dream come true. I think I will have a chance of being the head girl because I come to school on time and wear the correct uniform. I could help my Teacher serve the class and the school by going into meetings and representing the school as one of the main role model in PBS. I could also represent the school in a positive way leaving a positive message from other schools . I could also help the school by stopping any fights, picking up the rubbish and try make the school friendlier. I would like to be head girl as speaking in front of people and leadership skills will help me later on in life not only will these help me it would mean I have more opportunities when coming to college. Being nominated as head girl will give me high standards when learning and lead an example to other children who want to be leaders.

I am really proud to be nominated for head girl for 2016. To make people vote for me I had to persuade people to vote for me. I got nominated because I had the qualifications needed for this leader. I am so happy to be nominated as this will give me a better chance going to college. I hope I get nominated to be head girl for 2016.

This is a DLO of Queen Elizabeth life. I learnt that her sister Queen Victoria was a queen and passed it on to Queen Elizabeth.

Beauty Therapist.

For the last 2 weeks in careers we have been taking a quiz about what job we would like. One of the suggested ideas were a Beauty Therapist. Here is my DLO about the information being a beauty therapist. 

Inclined Plane

This is a DLO about the inclined plane. Our task was to explain what the inclined plane means in exact 25 word or less. As you can see in my DLO I struggled to keep it to 25 words.

Jiwi's Machine

This is about Jiwi Machines. We had to name the machines that were used in the video and explain what that machine does. I learnt that all of his machines had a use and it made his life easier.

Screws

This is about screws. Screws are used to make stuff stick together. One way you could use screws is to make a box or other things. 

Alan Duff

This is a collection of Alan Duff books. He came in and talked to the Yr 7&8's. I really got inspired by him to red more books.

Reading

This was a reading activity that we did. We had to answer the questions. I was learning on how to inference.

Thank You letter

This is my Thank You letter to Bunnings Tanning and Mr Millward. I wrote this letter because they helped us make ramps and it helps us way better for our fair test.

Spelling

This is my results for my spelling. As you can tell by the picture, I need to work on my spelling and practise more often. 

Moon Rover

Today after tech Room 5 and 6 had science with Tamaki College.  This DLO shows on how to make a moon rover without any electrical things. This activity was quite challenging because we had to make it move with out electric stuff. I found it fun working with Tamaki College.

Critical Friend

Today Room 6 partnered up with a critical friend from Room 5 to see our improvement between our writing. My critical friend helped me with my writing by telling me the sentences I repeated and the ones I needed to add. I found that my critical helped me alot because she made me see how I can add more punctuation.

Guy Fawks

This is our modern interpretation of the Guy Fawkes story. It shows how Guy Fawkes felt when the King sent his men down into the cellar to capture him, and how the King(prime minister) reacted to the letter about someone's betrayal.

Problem Solving

This is a presentation on my problem soling. I am learning how to solve problems for the test using multiplication and division.

Wood Works

Today, at tech we did woodwork with Mr Grande. As you can see in the picture I am cutting the piece of wood. We are making a project, and when it is finished it will look like a car caring wood in the trunk.

Care:

This is my certificate I got in assembly. I got this because I have been using/showing care : Confidence, Attitude, Respect, Excellence and Innovation. I also got three of my badges for completing my care award booklet. I feel proud of myself.

This is a book review about the girl with the broken wing. I got very interested in this book because the angel was very naughty.

Understanding Multiplication

This is a DLO of understanding multiplication in different ways. I chose to do 12 x 8 = 96 because this was the one I have been struggling on.

Careers

This is a poplet explaining all the different jobs linking to being a doctor. To be a doctor you will need to know some skills, such as English, maths, knowing the body parts and science

Pay it foward

I chose to pay it forward to my mum by cleaning up the house and doing most jobs she will do. I cleaned up he whole house, did the laundry, vacuum, made dinner and folded the laundry. My mum was so proud of me and so was I. 

Make Dinner

I made dinner for my family. I was really surprised how this dish turned out because it wasn't burnt. This was one of the actives in the care award booklet.  From this activity I have learnt that I can help others that do lots of hard work like my mum. 

Personal Passion

My personal passion is Art. Why?? I like art because you can do so many things with it and you get to be creative with what you are doing. There are lots of uses for art, such as putting them as display, making paper mache, sketching, painting, mosaics and much more.

Nelson Mandela

I chose Nelson Mandela for my respected leader for my care awards. I have learnt so many facts about him, like for example he loved his country and would do anything and he was the first ever president of South Africa.

The title of my book is when the cats away. This is a fiction book. I think my cover is better because it is more colourful and the words are easier to see unlike the other version. This book is about Niko and family are trying to survive through the war and they can't escape before they get shot.

I liked these books because it was very interesting and as soon as I read the blurb I got hooked in it right away. I give these books a 10/10 because it was very interesting and I also learnt some new vocabulary that I can use in my writing next time.

I recommend this book to Deziree because 1st - she likes to read books based on animals sometimes, 2nd - I think she will find this very interesting, and 3rd- because she is my best friend and likes to read books.  

Aretha Franklin

This is my presentation on Aretha Franklin. This activity was included in our Silver care award. I was researching about what made her right that song and who was the original idea was for the song. One thing I found very interesting is that Aretha Franklin got the song off Otis Redding and changed a few lines.

Tongan Language Week
