Term Evaluation 2014

Term Evaluation 2014
This year has been awesome because of all the new skills I can do in writing, reading, maths and topic. I have learnt how to controll my anger by only saying good things about people. My favourite activity that I did at school was going on our trip to the botanical gardens and leant lots of facts about New Zealand plants. I was nervous, learning about space. After I knew lots about space I started to love learning about space. My 2nd favourite things that made this year awesome was when we went to the museum and had to complete different and fun activities that they played in the olden days.

I have learnt how to write an explanation and elaborating on it so our writing is on a high level. I learnt new strategies for working out hard multiplication or addition. I learnt how to be nice to each other and to be helpful. I learned lots of facts about the sun. I also learnt how to do new tricks on my net book. I learnt how to crop the pictures and learn how to do stuff in a faster way. My net book helped me with my learning by making my work easier instead of doing it in my book. I also learned how to do backstrokes on my back. I am proud of myself because I can swim a whole length of the pool without breathing.

Next year I would like to go on a trip to the botanical gardens to do new activities and work. I also would like to do new swimming lessons so I can be a better swimmer.

Pentominoes

Today we were doing some petominoes maths. We had some 5 cm squares. We had the shapes and we had to make it fit in the grid. We had to use it to fill it all with the shapes. It was a little bit hard for me. It was challenging for us to make it all fit. We had to make it fit in all of the grid but you could make a smaller rectangle to fit it in.  After that I managed to fit all the shapes in the grid.

My explanation

Why we wear shoes:

Shoes are important to wear because it protects our feet. It protects our feet by not letting dirt or sharp things in it. Shoes are something we wear on our feet to protect our them and to not have injuries.

Shoes Make our feet better because it protects the damage from our feet.  It’s better to wear shoes than have sores on your foot. For example if you're walking on the street and there is glass on the ground you will have cuts in your feet.

Walking around in shoes also makes you look smart and better.  When you're wearing shoes it makes you look smart. You can wear shoes on to special occasions. For example you can wear it to a dance.

Shoes make our feet refreshing. It leaves our feet smelling nice because you're not walking around in bare feet. For example if you're walking bare feet and there was animal pooh around, if you step on it your feet will smell. It makes our feet smell nice and feel fresh.

Shoes are important to wear because it protects our feet and smells refreshing. Imagine if our feet were dirty and smelly if we didn't wear shoes? Wearing shoes is important because it protects  the sharp things out of our feet.

Migration

This is the story of my family's migration to New Zealand.

Kiwi Kids News

Today I read an article about End compulsory sport in school. The article was about a school deciding if we should play sport alot or not. I think we should not play sports that much because  you may not have the equipment and have that much space. I think it is better to play sports in clubs. If you want to read the article here s the link:

Our Trip to the Museum

I was so excited to hop on the bus.  My hands were shaking like a spinning machine.

One Monday Room 7, 8, and 5 went to the Auckland Museum. We got there a little late. Our first activity was to learn about migration. Our instructors told us a little story about migration. I learnt that the tapa is very important because the Cook Islands sleep on it and give it away as gifts. After that we made some tapa with paper and crayons. We had a board with a pattern on it and we had to trace around it with the crayons. The cook islands use a drum as a sign to call people over. Our next activity was to learn about the islands and why people migrate. We leant that the boat and the tapa was made out of coconut husk. The boat can only work if it is not stormy. We played a game. There were holes in the wood and we had to connect strings in it and the first person to get it in wins. We also had to make holes in the wood without using any electricity. After that we had a race, the first one to stop doing it would lose. We had lunch outside the museum. I was hopping up and down when I heard we were going to explore the whole museum. My favourite part was when we went to the volcano. It looked like a real home when we went in. It was talking to us about being prepared when there is a volcanic eruption happening. It was scary when the room shaked and  the lights went on and off. My second favourite part was when we went in the elevator. I felt a little bit dizzy. I liked going to the sea creatures. In the sea creatures area we saw a guinni pigs, fishes, starfish, and a crab. My legs were so tired from walking around the area. I enjoyed going to the museum.

My Sister sleepwalking

Creak! Creak! I heard creepy foot steps as I slid into my bed. At night time my mum, sister and myself went to sleep. We were all so tired. I was always scared when our light were off in our house. I always heard creepy and cranky noises in my dreams. I always looked in my closet because it was so dark and empty. I slowly looked away as I heard tumbling footsteps.

I tried not to make a sound. I heard footsteps going up and down. I heard the door handle moving like a slow turtle. The door was moving slowly as it opened with a squeak. I rolled to the other side of my bed and I found myself under my blanket. I hopped out of my bed and took little baby steps. As I got closer to the door, the  door started to open with a creak.

It opened with a scary noise. I took a deep breath and opened it very fast. I had a sneak peak out the door and saw my sister walking like a frighting zombie. I quickly ran to my bed and finally noticed that it was my sister.

Whoo! Whoo! I laughed out loud. I was so scared of nothing , I said. As I was laughing my mum woke up.

We were all laughing when I was so scared of my sister.

Duffy Show

PhotoPhoto

Today Panmure Bridge School  went to the Duffy theatre show. There were 3 main characters there names were Rosie, Uncle Bingo and Duffy. Rosie liked reading ballerina books.  The show was about Uncle bingo not  reading. They thought that he couldn't read but it was just because he was too lazy and couldn't find a good book. Rosie and  Duffy were trying to make him love books. They tried everything but it still didn't work.  The made a great big book and they told us to tell our favourite book and whisper it into the big book. Altogether it made a fantastic book. When he opened the book it came out wrong then it was planned. When Uncle bingo was going to his rugby game Rosie gave him a gift. He was so lazy to read a book anywhere. He opened the gift and it was a ballerina book. He looked at it and stared away and looked back. He got inspired by the book so he read it until it finished. When he played his rugby game he did some ballerina moves. Rosie and Duffy were so happy that he was reading now. Reading ballerina moves made him win his rugby game. Later on he loved reading books now. The message for the audience was to read, read , read.  My favourite part was when he was playing rugby and doing ballerina moves at the same time. I enjoyed watching the show.

Small Moment

Playing Pool

Ohhh! I sighed as I wanted to abruptly get there! My heart was eager when I was going with my church friends to play pool. We went to play pool near NewMarket. I was a little bit nervy playing pool. I went with my church friends so we could all get along and have a fun time. We left the house at 7:00 so we could dash to the pool counter and get a table before they were all occupied.

We got to the pool table and I was so blissful. I was nervous when they asked me to play. I felt worried on how to play so I watched and then had a turn. We had to pay $10.00 if an hour went past. I played with my cousin. I was aiming for big balls and my cousin was aiming small balls. Once I knew how to play it got easy for me. The pool table was black and green and looked old fashioned. The pool stick looked so easy to hold but when it came to holding the stick it was so baffling to control the stick and play at the same time.

I went swiftly to the other pool table and played more games. First I estimated that we just had to aim at any ball until I saw other people playing. I played heaps of games until the light came off which meant we had to pay $10.00. We were all so hungry we went and had a feed at wendy’s. Our stomachs were rumbling like a big thunder storm. We ordered a $10.00 meal and upsized the ice cream. We ate and ate until we got full. We were so full we had heaps of left overs. Our leftovers filled up one whole table.
We went home with full stomachs. We were all so full that we could hardly walk. I had a fun time hanging out with my church friends playing pool.

Going Church

On Sunday I went to church. I was so lazy to get out of my bed. I was in a rush cause church started at 12:00 and I woke up at 9:00 and it takes us 2 and a half hours to get there and clean up the hall. We just sang songs and cultural things. I felt very tired until I saw this paper with a cow on it. We had to fold around it and fold the flaps. When you've done that part then you will end up having a cow. They looked so cute. There were green ones and pink ones which were cute. I loved going church.

Movie Night

I shivered as I sat down on the bed. I thought we were watching a scary movie but we just watched a funny movie. It was called Problem Child. It was about this naughty little boy and he dose things that know one want to own him. There was this couple who came along the child and wanted to keep him because they tried so hard to get one. They kept the child and noticed that he was so naughty that they were going to return him to the orphanage. Then they changed there mind and kept him but the little boy was furious. The man left the key in the car and the little boy drove it on the streets and banged into the man's fathers shop and had to pay a long bill. This movie was so funny I watched it over and over again. The boy was so cheeky.

Lazy Day

On Saturday I went in my room and all I could see was my huge teedy bear. I cuddled it like it was a baby and just snuggle up on it and fell asleep. It was sort of a lazy day for me. My family was just watching T.V and starting to fall asleep. Uh! I sighed like the noise of a giant. I was so tired I sleep for the whole day, and when it came to night time I fell wide awake like an owl.

Baby Time!

Yay I get to hold my cousins at my aunties house. My two favorite babies to hold are named Ilaisane and Jessica. They are so cute to hold because they don't cry and they feel like a teddy-bear. I play with them and crawl around with them. They are so fun to play with because they laugh in cute ways. My favorite one to hold was Ilaisane because her smiles just wanted me to smile too. Can't wait to sleep over there. : )

Playing Pool

Yay!! I just played pool and it was so cool. First of all I had butterflies in my stomach. First I just watched all the others players so I knew how it was played. Once I started to get the game I started to join in. We had to pay $10 an hour. I went there with my church members. I sort of had trouble holding the stick tight and not to drop it. I was aiming for the big balls and my other friend was aiming for the small balls. My other friend started to hit heaps of them in and we started to challenge each other. Once we finished playing we went to wendys and ordered a $10 meal. We were all so full of eating our ice cream and drinks that we just left it there for the cleaners to eat. We were all so tired to get up and clean after ourselfs.

My Art Reflection

This term we have been doing art like Ton Schulten. We made a landscape painting. We have learnt to colour mix. We have made our colours out of white, black, red, yellow and blue. I mixed blue, red and yellow to make brown and added white or black to make it lighter or darker. We mixed black and white  to make Gray. I am proud of my artwork because I made or the colours by myself.

Term 2 Reflection

Term 2 Reflection:

In the past  9 weeks we have been doing alot of hard work.

In reading we have been reading digitally on e - books. We have been reading and finding information about animals. We have been timing our reading so we no how long we can read up too. For the first time we timed ourself we could only read up to 30 seconds. Our aim for reading was to go to 20 minutes. We achieved our goal and got up to 20 minutes. I am proud of myself for reading up to 20 minutes without stopping.

In writing we have been learning how to elaborate ( to add more ideas) to make our writing more interesting. We have also been learning how to take a risk with a word to make our writing interesting. We have been learning what simple sentences and what's complex sentences. We have been writing a information report about a endangered animal.

In music our favourite game we liked to play  was instrumental bingo. Our focuses were to play the drum. Instrumental bingo was a game when the teacher played the music and we had to guess which instrument it was. The first person who got five in a row was the winner. We have also been playing twinkle twinkle little stars on the ukulele.
WOW!! We have been doing a lot of work. No wonder we are all so tired. I can't wait for the holidays!!!.

Interactive Drum Show

On Wednesday the whole school went to the Interactive Drum Show. We learnt some drum rhythms and how to become experts at playing the drum. We were all excited as we were all having a drum to play on. The instructor names were Johnny and Lucie. We first had to repeat what Johnny did so we had an idea how it sounded like. We saw lots of instrument. We sang a song in his language. We copied the beat he was playing and then we had to verse the other half on the hall. We all learnt good lessons of how to play a drum and to copy the beat. Afterwards John was playing the harmonica. It sounded so cool. He made the sound of a train. There were heaps of drums. Everyone was so sad when we were going to finish.
