Winter Learning Journey ( Day 1 Activity 3 )

In the olden day girls weren't allowed to participate in the Olympics or even watch it.  That's not fair. Girls should be treated the same as the boys. I mean without girls our world would be so different. I think girls should of participated because if you look at a boy and a girl we are the same, we have a nose, mouth, eye, ear, feet and hands. My point is not all girls are sporty but some girls are. Girls should be accepted as who they are. When people look at a boy they think there strong, smart, active and many more but if they think that why can't they think like that to a girl. How many of have heard this message in the speaker, ( Can we please have some strong boys to do a job ) or something like that. Have you ever just wondered hey that's not fair. Every person should be accepted as who we are because there is only one you. I think girls should be allowed to participate in the Olympics back in the olden days.

Hi Nesi. It was insane how girls/women were not allowed to compete or even watch the games. We might be different genders, colours, religions, etc. But we are still the same race. Good luck to everyone doing the winter learning journey.

Hi Nesi,

I really enjoyed reading your post. It was thoughtful and very well written. As a woman, it was also very powerful to read your words and to know that you feel that we should all be treated equally and with respect. I couldn't agree with you more. I think that it's terribly sad that women were forbidden from participating in the ancient Olympic games and am very pleased that the modern day Olympic committee has changed the rules and opened the games up to both genders.

I hope that we can all enjoy watching men and women of different races, colours, ethnicities, religious backgrounds, ages, etc. compete in the games and do their best to represent their countries. It's quite exciting to think that we will soon be able to see people from over 200 countries compete to be the best in their respective sports!

I wonder how our New Zealand Olympians will do in Rio this year...

Cheers, Rachel
